Exclusive:10 Must See Movies This Fall

Say goodbye to Summer popcorn movies and hello to Fall awards season.

Here’s my list of the Fall movies I am most anxious to see. Some will be Oscar favorites, others just plain old good movie fun.

MY 10 MUST SEE FALL MOVIES:

1) J. Edgar (Nov. 9) – Why should you go see this? This perhaps the front-runner for Best Picture. Clint Eastwood directing Leonardo DiCaprio, playing one of the most infamous powerful men this country has ever seen.

2) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Dec. 21) – Why should you go see this? The book was an international best seller and director David Fincher never disappoints. This is the most talked about Fall release and it might the most anticipated movie of the entire year.

3) The Rum Diary (Oct. 28) – Why should you go see this? The Rum Diary was written by Johnny Depp’s good friend, the late Hunter S. Thompson. This film has been Depp’s passion project for years. In fact the movie started filming in 2009.

4) Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (Dec. 16) – Why should you go see this? Because RDJ and Jude Law have amazing chemistry as Holmes and Watson. Also, we finally get to see Holmes’ arch rival Professor James Moriarty.

5) Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (Dec. 21) – Why should you go see this? To see if Tom Cruise still has what it takes to do jaw-dropping stunts. The trailer looks intense and Cruise is surrounded by a strong supporting cast.

6) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (Nov. 18) – Why should you go see this? Gary Oldman is getting rave reviews and is on his way to finally earning his first Oscar nom. The cast is top notch (including last year’s Best Actor Colin Firth).

7) The Iron Lady (Dec. 16) – Why should you go see this? Because Meryl Streep is the greatest actress of all time. Any other questions?

8. The Ides Of March (Oct. 7) – Why should we go see this? If George Clooney even does half as good job as he did with Good Night And Good Luck, this could be a serious contender to win Best Picture. Also, Ryan Gosling is the talk of the town.

9) Moneyball (Sept. 23) – Why should you go see this? Brad Pitt and baseball are two of America’s favorite things. It will be interesting to see how they make this movie exciting, when in real life the Oakland A’s never won anything during the film’s time period.

10) War Horse (Dec. 28) – Why should you go see this? Because Spielberg is back to making Oscar contenders. Think Saving Private Ryan with a horse.

  1. I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! The films story is very exciting and puzzling (for those that haven’t read the book) and the pace is steady with some really tense situations. The investigation part of the story is excellent. Although it is 2.5 hours long it is never boring.

The soundtrack was also very fitting and helped to set the mood of the film. This is far above any other Scandinavian thriller production, and I look forward to the rest of the films/series.
