Right off the back of the upcoming David Fincher re-make of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo British actor Daniel Craig has refused studio bosses offers to play the most attractive member of Her Majesty’s Secret Service for a further five films. Despite the three year gap since the release of the last James Bond movie, producers of the series at MGM have asked Craig to sign a contract binding him to appear in the next five James Bond movies; which would see him playing the character well into his fifties.
Craig who is currently 43 said during the filming of the next movie in the series Skyfall (2012):
“If this Bond is successful there will be another after that,”
But otherwise he seems content to take the Bond series one film at a time. The same can not necessarily be said for the rest of his acting career, Skyfall making it the third consecutive movie filming he’s been in this year alone. He appeared in Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens in the summer, then squeezed into a Lycra leotard for Spielberg’s Tintin, then shot the horror/thriller hybrid Dream House, and finally, the hotly anticipated Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be released on Boxing Day. The gorgeous Craig doesn’t seem to mind having such a hectic schedule however, saying “it’s going good”. But what else would you expect him to say when it’s thanks to filming Dream House that he hooked up again with old flame Rachel Wiezs, who has convinced him into giving marriage a second try. He does not like to comment on his personal life however saying:
“I’m very vocal of the fact that I have a private life… If you sell it, you can’t buy your privacy back.”
Craig seemed optimistic about the prospects of Skyfall saying that he hoped it would beat the success of its predecessor Quantum and Solace which encountered several problems during production because of the Writer’s Strike.
Skyfall has had its fair share of problems too, having been put on hold several times due to financial difficulties at the studio.
