Hugh Jackman tweeted this photo from the set of Les Miserable, saying “Day one of Les Mis shoot. Soooo excited!”
Hugh will be taking on the lead role of Jean Valjean in this highly anticipated musical.
Les Misérables is the big screen adaptation of the beloved stage musical seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe. Jackman is joined by Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells a tale of broken dreams, love, passion, sacrifice, redemption and the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
Director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) will have this movie set for release in December, just in time for Oscar season.
