It feels like this news was destined to happen all the way back when Skyfall was announced as the 23rd James Bond movie.
Now it’s a official. Adele will sing the theme song for Skyfall. While she always seemed the favorite to sing the theme, in the past few weeks other musicians appeared to also be in the running. Muse and Lana Del Ray were mentioned as potential Bond singers.
The producers wanted to go back to a more traditional Bond sounding style. Adele will try to deliver a legendary Bond song like Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon and many others have done over the franchise’s 50 year history. Adele recently worked with ”Skyfall” composer Thomas Newman on the theme song in Abbey Road Studios.
“You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell for Casino Royale and “Another Way To Die” by Alicia Keys/Jack White for Quantum Of Solace, were both adequate Bond songs for the last two flicks, but Adele’s song for Skyfall has a chance to be a classic.
