At the upcoming Academy Awards, the world’s greatest secret agent will be honored. What was thought to be just a quick tribute to the James Bond franchise’s 50 year anniversary, has now become a major event.
Legendary Bond singer Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker) will perform at this year’s Academy Awards for the first time in her long career. Rumors swirl that the Oscar producers are also trying to get all six actors (Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig) to participate, as well as perhaps a few of the other famous Bond singers (Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, etc.).
This should all lead up to Adele singing her Oscar-nominated Bond song, Skyfall. Surprisingly, a Bond song has never won an Oscar. In fact, the last time a song from a 007 film was even nominated was For Your Eyes Only, over 30 years ago.
